Title
Orazio and Artemisia Gentileschi
Description
This book goes in depth describing many findings about the infamous father and daughter artistic powerhouses- Orazio and Artemisia Gentileschi. Orazio and Artemisia were both Italian Baroque painters. Keith Christiansen and Judith Mann explain the differences in the artwork each artist was commisioned to do as they moved through different regions of Italy. Additionally, this book offered an interesting perspective explaining the exhibition of Artemisia's work as seen by Feminist Art historians. Elizabeth Cropper went into detail about the exhibit, and Artemisia's focus on portraying vengeful women. She also added important information about Artemisia's life story and her tense relationship with her father due to his colleague raping her. This source explains many causes of the artwork created by Artemisia and Orazio, and helps the reader have a more comprehensive understanding of the background to the artwork.
